Armistice of Villa Giusti ends Austro-Hungarian fighting

On November 3, 1918 Austria-Hungary signed the Armistice of Villa Giusti with Italy and the Allies, ending hostilities on the Italian front.

The armistice precipitated the collapse and dissolution of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, reshaping Central Europe and adding new diplomatic challenges to the postwar settlement Wilson would help negotiate.
