Battle of Langfang halts Seymour Expedition's advance

On June 18 the Seymour Expedition was attacked and driven back by Chinese Imperial troops and Boxer fighters near Langfang, suffering casualties and becoming stalled en route to Beijing.

The defeat showed the strength of Chinese resistance, forced the expedition to retreat, and contributed directly to the subsequent siege of the foreign legations and broader international military operations in China.
