Casablanca falls to Allied forces

Allied forces secured Casablanca after the initial Operation Torch landings and fighting along the Moroccan coast, with organized resistance ending by November 11, 1942.

Control of Casablanca provided the Allies with an important Atlantic port and staging area for the North African campaign and had significant political implications for relations with Vichy authorities.
