Clinton signs the Improving America's Schools Act of 1994

President Clinton signed the Improving America's Schools Act, reauthorizing the Elementary and Secondary Education Act and updating federal K–12 education policy.

The law expanded and restructured federal support for disadvantaged students, emphasized standards and accountability, and set the framework for education policy and funding decisions across the 1990s.
