Omaha Race Riot and lynching of Will Brown

A white mob in Omaha, Nebraska attacked the county courthouse, lynched African American prisoner Will Brown, and attempted to lynch city officials during a violent race riot that began September 28, 1919.

Part of the 'Red Summer' of 1919, the riot exposed extreme racial violence and tensions nationwide and prompted debate over federal and local responses to racially motivated mob violence.
