Operation Little Switch prisoner exchange concludes in Korean War

The limited exchange of sick and wounded prisoners between United Nations/United States forces and North Korean/Chinese forces under Operation Little Switch concluded on May 3, 1953.

The humanitarian exchange reduced immediate suffering, built limited confidence between the sides, and helped pave the way for subsequent armistice negotiations that led to the July 1953 ceasefire.
