Paris Peace Conference opens at the Palace of Versailles

President Woodrow Wilson was a principal figure as Allied leaders convened at the Palace of Versailles for the opening of the Paris Peace Conference to negotiate post‑World War I settlements.

The conference launched the negotiations that produced the Treaty of Versailles and set the framework for the postwar international order, including Wilson's advocacy for a League of Nations.
