Proclaims Devils Tower National Monument under the Antiquities Act

President Theodore Roosevelt used the Antiquities Act to proclaim Devils Tower in northeastern Wyoming a United States National Monument.

As the first national monument created under the new Antiquities Act, the proclamation set a precedent for presidential protection of significant natural and cultural sites without new legislation.
