Republican Convention upholds credentials report, denying many Roosevelt delegates

The convention voted to accept the credentials committee's report that refused to seat numerous delegates pledged to Theodore Roosevelt, triggering protests from Roosevelt supporters.

The denial of Roosevelt delegates deepened the rift within the Republican Party and directly contributed to Roosevelt's decision to run on a separate Progressive ticket, splitting the Republican vote in 1912.
