Republican National Convention adjourns in Chicago

After five days of contentious debate over credentials and nominations, the Republican National Convention formally adjourned on June 22, 1912.

The adjournment closed the convention that renominated Taft and left the party deeply divided, a split that helped pave the way for Theodore Roosevelt's subsequent third‑party Progressive campaign.
