Signing of the Keating–Owen Child Labor Act

President Woodrow Wilson signed the Keating–Owen Act, prohibiting the interstate shipment of goods produced by factories or mines employing children under specified ages.

It was the first significant federal restriction on child labor reflecting Progressive-era reform efforts and federal engagement with labor standards, though the law was later struck down by the Supreme Court in 1918.
