Woodrow Wilson awarded the 1919 Nobel Peace Prize

On December 10, 1919, the Nobel Committee awarded President Woodrow Wilson the Nobel Peace Prize for his advocacy of the League of Nations and efforts to secure a just peace after World War I.

The prize was international recognition of Wilson's central role in postwar diplomacy and boosted the moral authority of his League of Nations initiative amid contentious domestic ratification battles.
