Cease-fire ends the Six-Day War

A U.N.-brokered cease-fire took effect on June 10, 1967, bringing an end to six days of fighting in which Israel seized the Sinai Peninsula, Gaza Strip, West Bank, East Jerusalem, and Golan Heights.

The rapid territorial changes transformed Middle East geopolitics, created long-term diplomatic and security challenges for U.S. foreign policy, and set the stage for years of negotiation and conflict.
