'Daisy' television commercial airs once for Johnson campaign

The Johnson presidential campaign aired the controversial 'Daisy' television advertisement on network television, showing a young girl and a countdown to a nuclear explosion as a warning about Barry Goldwater.

Broadcast only once before being pulled, the ad became an iconic and influential example of negative political advertising that framed Goldwater as an extremist and helped shape public perceptions in the 1964 election.
