Declaration of the Establishment of the State of Israel

On May 14, 1948, David Ben‑Gurion proclaimed the establishment of the State of Israel in Tel Aviv, declaring independence from the British Mandate for Palestine.

The declaration created a new sovereign state that immediately reshaped Middle East geopolitics, triggered regional war, and prompted urgent diplomatic and policy responses from the Truman administration and other governments.
