Dwight D. Eisenhower elected President, defeating Adlai Stevenson

On November 4, 1952, Republican Dwight D. Eisenhower won the U.S. presidential election, defeating Democrat Adlai Stevenson in a decisive victory.

Eisenhower's victory ended eight years of Democratic White House control that included Truman's administration, determining the incoming administration that Truman would oversee during the transition and shaping U.S. domestic and foreign policy direction going forward.
