John Kerry formally accepts Democratic nomination at the DNC

On July 29, 2004, Senator John Kerry delivered his acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention in Boston after being formally nominated as the Democratic candidate for president, with Senator John Edwards as his running mate.

Kerry's nomination set the stage for the November general election and crystallized the matchup and campaign themes that incumbent President George W. Bush would face in his 2004 re-election bid.
