King David Hotel bombing in Jerusalem

On July 22, 1946 the Zionist paramilitary group Irgun detonated a bomb at the King David Hotel, the British administrative headquarters in Jerusalem, killing around 91 people and injuring many others.

The attack markedly escalated violence in Mandatory Palestine, strained British administration, and intensified international and U.S. attention to the future of Palestine and postwar Middle East policy.
