Operation Attleboro begins in South Vietnam

As one of the largest ground operations up to that point in the Vietnam War, Attleboro shaped subsequent U.S. tactical approaches, produced extensive combat intelligence, and contributed to later assessments of U.S. strategy in Vietnam.
