Signing of the Public Broadcasting Act of 1967

President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Public Broadcasting Act, creating the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB).

The act established a federal framework and funding mechanism for noncommercial broadcasting that enabled the later development of PBS and NPR and expanded public educational media in the United States.
