Supreme Court decision: Grutter v. Bollinger

The Supreme Court ruled 5–4 that the University of Michigan Law School's narrowly tailored use of race in admissions to achieve diversity was constitutional.

The decision upheld limited, individualized consideration of race in higher-education admissions and set a key precedent on the constitutionality of affirmative-action policies.
