U.S.-Brokered Israel–Egypt Sinai Interim Agreement Signed

Following Secretary of State Henry Kissinger's shuttle diplomacy, Israel and Egypt signed an interim disengagement agreement for the Sinai front on January 18, 1974.

The agreement, negotiated with U.S. mediation as part of the Nixon administration's diplomacy after the Yom Kippur War, marked a key step toward de-escalation in the Middle East and enhanced U.S. influence in regional peacemaking.
